Three years after my mom, Jean Wells, founded the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show™, she had the idea to bring in a well-known quilter to give a lecture during the show. It was quite popular, so the next year, three workshops were added and Quilter's Affair was born.
We've evolved from that one lecture to 30 teachers and 86 workshops, with a week packed full of events, lectures and fun!
Because Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show™ is a grass roots event and all quilts are accepted into the show (no jurying), we draw a wide spectrum of quilters from beginners, to advanced quilters and we strive to provide the same inclusiveness. The variety of instructors and their knowledge is what makes Quilter’s Affair so special. Teachers come from all over the world (as far away as Australia and Egypt this year) and cover a wide range of styles and techniques. We offer everything from beginning quilting, to art quilting, to dyeing your own fabric and all in our beautiful Central Oregon setting with classes limited to 20 people.
2020 will bring back lots of our favorite teachers and some new faces. We have some special guests from Egypt, The Tent Makers of Cairo, coming to teach Egyptian appliqué all week long, as well as Jenny Bowker from Australia. They are the special event program for the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show on Wednesday night. You won’t want to miss it.
Quilter’s Affair offers more opportunity for education than any other textile art event in Oregon, and workshops abound throughout the year at Stitchin’ Post. Education is the foundation of our business! We welcome you to check our website frequently and subscribe to our newsletter to stay up to date on all Stitchin' Post workshops and events.
Thank you to all who visited the Stitchin’ Post, in person or online, and to all who attended Quilter’s Affair and the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show last year. It is always a pleasure to see familiar faces and a joy to make new friends. You honor us with your patronage, and we treasure you.
We look forward to seeing you this summer, if not before, and invite you to stop by the Stitchin’ Post any time you are in Sisters, where we are very busy writing orders for new products that will fill the store to the brim by July!
